More than just singing, Pop-Up is a community. As a co-operative choir there are always opportunities to get involved, and our workshops and retreats are as good for building friendships as they are our harmonies! Pop-Up is currently open for new members. Please fill out this form to apply.

A few FAQs below:

• I am not a trained singer and have never sung in a choir before. Does that matter? Nope! We are not professional singers – more like professionals who like to sing. We have a wide range of voices in our choir, from people who have been singing for years to people who have always loved to sing but never done it in a choir before. We welcome a variety of voices – so why not try out!
• Do I need to audition? Our audition process is informal, but we like to ensure that all members are comfortable singing in tune and as part of a harmony. During your first session, you’ll have a short discussion with our musical director to see where your voice best fits.
• Do I need to be able to sight read? No. Sightreading will help you pick up songs, but there is no expectation that you need to learn songs this way and we use teach-tracks for every song.
• Is there a limit per voice part? We are generally about 25-30 singers in 5-part harmony: SAATB as Sopranos, Alto 1s, Alto 2s, Tenors and Bass. We limit the number of members to 8 per voice part, but we are always keen to meet new voices – especially Bass, Tenor and Soprano.
• Can I join anytime? We do recruitment drives at the start of each term but we are always open to joiners mid-term, so don´t let that put you off. If its very close to the end of term, we may work with you to join next term instead.
• Where do you rehearse? We rehearse every Tuesday evening 7-9pm over 3 x 11 week terms per year (Jan-April, May-July, September – December). We generally follow school terms and have breaks over school holidays/half terms. Our venue is about 10 minutes walk from either Kennington or Vauxhall tube stations.
