We’ve been rehearsing at The Black Prince pub in Kennington for years, and Mark, the Prince’s landlord, is one of most saintly patrons. So on Tuesday, our last rehearsal of term, we nixed the rehearsing bit, and did an impromptu gig in the pub for him.
He looked like he was about to burst with pride.
Afterwards, we sang happy birthday to a lovely chap called Danny who was having a party in the beer garden, and then trooped upstairs to do some serious damage to Sing Star. Danny’s friends had a word with Emily of the sops, and requested that we sing The Chain for him. Well what are we here for if not to troop into beer gardens in vast numbers and sing to people!
It was amazing fun, although I think Mark’s relieved we won’t be back til September, because 25 Poppers singing Kaiser Chiefs on XBox is quite the treat.
